COUPLES+ THERAPIST / CLINICAL SEXOLOGIST

Hi, I’m Amy (she/her). I’m a clinical sexologist who is passionate about helping people feel more comfortable, confident and connected in their sexual and relational lives. I hold a Master of Sexology from Curtin University and I’m a member of the Society of Australian Sexologists.

I’m interested in the many ways we experience intimacy, connection and pleasure. Our beliefs and past experiences, along with work stress, health, family and the everyday pressures of life, all shape how we connect with ourselves and our partners.

I enjoy supporting couples+ to navigate challenges around sexual communication, desire, intimacy and sexual difficulties, as well as the changes that shape relationships over time. My approach is curious, collaborative and trauma-informed. I truly believe there’s no one right way to experience sexuality or build a fulfilling relationship.

I want therapy to feel like a space where you can be yourself, explore the things that matter to you and talk openly about sex and relationships at your own pace. I bring warmth, empathy and an open mind to my work, making room for both the challenging conversations and the lighter moments along the way.

I welcome people of all genders, sexualities, identities and relationship structures. I’m kink-friendly and committed to making our sessions inclusive and affirming.

Relationship Therapy

Relationship therapy may suit you if you’d like to navigate and nurture the connections that are significant to you.
Luma Room is based on Wurundjeri land in Brunswick. We offer relationship therapy for couples+ either in person at our location near Sydney Road or via Telehealth online, if preferred.

I like to draw from therapies including:

• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

• Mindfulness-based Therapy

• Person-centred Therapy

• Attachment Theory

• The Gottman Method

My practice is person-centred, and I draw on a range of therapies, including the Gottman Method, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based therapies. I adapt how we work to each person's needs, goals and experiences.

My training in sexology means I look at sex as a whole, including what’s happening in the body, the mind and the relationship. People who see me may be navigating differences in desire, changes in their sexual connection, sexual pain or other sexual difficulties, anxiety, shame or body image concerns, or finding it challenging to talk about sex. I’m also drawn to how life transitions such as becoming parents, changes in health and ageing can shape intimacy, and I enjoy supporting people as they explore their sexuality, identity and desires.

When I work with couples+, I pay attention to the dynamic between partners, while also making room for each person’s own story and experiences. Talking about sex and relationships can feel personal, and sometimes a little vulnerable. I hope to make those conversations feel a bit easier by offering a judgement-free space where you feel supported to navigate challenges and find new ways of connecting with yourself and your partner(s).

If you feel like I could be a good fit please get in touch…

Amy is currently available Monday to Saturday, including after hours appointments on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
