AVAILABLE FOR NEW CLIENTS

Hi, I’m Genevieve, a registered psychologist and clinical registrar. My work is grounded in collaboration, empathy, and transparency. I enjoy being thorough in my approach, taking the time to understand each person at the individual level as well as deeply understanding the relationship. I practice with the understanding that identity and lived-experience shape our relationships.

I have a particular interest in working with those who are hoping to strengthen their relationships, improve communication, and better understand relational patterns that may be keeping them stuck. I’m especially drawn to exploring how people make meaning of their experiences, and I support clients navigating significant life events, including transitions, the perinatal period, and grief, including the processing, healing, and rebuilding that can follow.

I believe meaningful change is non-linear and deeply personal. So my approach centres on curiosity, compassion, flexibility, and autonomy, with the aim of creating a space where clients feel safe, understood, and supported to define change on their own terms.

I am actively neuroaffirming and have experience working with neurodivergent clients.

Relationship Therapy

Relationship therapy may suit you if you’d like to navigate and nurture the connections that are significant to you.
Luma Room is based on Wurundjeri land in Brunswick. We offer relationship therapy for couples+ either in person at our location on Sydney Road (near Barkly Square) or via Telehealth online, if preferred.

I like to draw from therapies including:

• Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

• Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

• Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

• Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT)

• The Gottman Method

My work is informed by in-depth assessment, including understanding what brings people to therapy, each person’s perspective, and the patterns that may be shaping their relationships. I am particularly interested in exploring values, shared meaning, and hopes and dreams. I incorporate Gottman-informed principles alongside CBT, ACT, and CAT-based relational frameworks.

I have completed placements at Parkville Youth Mental Health HYPE team (early intervention for personality challenges for young people and their families), Mindspace Psychology, headspace (psychological support for young people), and the Victoria University Psychological Clinic (individual therapy and cognitive assessments). Across these settings, I have worked with adults, young people, and families, supporting a range of presentations including anxiety, depression, personality-related difficulties, neurodivergence, and perinatal grief.

I have also been involved in research and have a current publication exploring the overlap between anorexia and autism. My honours thesis won the APS award during my studies.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, spending time with dogs, and have recently taken up gardening.

If you feel like I could be a good fit please get in touch…

Genevieve is currently available Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, including after hours appointments.
